Agropoli has a perfectly kept ancient centre and it still keeps the XVII defensive walls with the entrance portal. On the mountain there is the Angevin-Aragon castle (on a Byzantine structure of VI century), on the West of the tourist port there is the tower (XVI century), called San Francesco Tower near the remains of San Francesco monastery.
Agropoli is at the heart of Magna Graecia, near Paestum and Velia and it is the “door” to “Parco Nazionale del Cilento e del Vallo di Diano”.
Agropoli is made of sun, sea, traditions, cultures, gastronomy, quietness and nature: this is why tourists love it so much. The sea is wonderful with its colours, the wide sandy beaches and the rocks. The most famous beach is Trentova, Vallone, San Francesco, Lido Azzurro, San Marco seaside and the long and wide beach that goes from Agropoli to Salerno
The Angevin-Aragon castle, with a triangular plant is very interesting: during Middle Ages it was the centre of the defence. During the year in it there are historical, cultural, folkloristic and music events.
